You Were Always Wanted
Before you were ever born, you were known. Before you ever called out to God, He had already set His love on you. You are not random. You are not forgotten. You are not a mistake. You are chosen.
Many of us carry silent questions deep in our hearts: Why wasn’t I picked? Why did they leave? Why wasn’t I enough? Whether it was a parent who abandoned you, a friend who rejected you, a relationship that broke your heart, or a community that excluded you—you’ve felt the sting. Rejection marks the soul and quietly suggests that something is wrong with you. But that’s not how God sees you.
In fact, your story begins long before the pain. According to Jesus, you are the treasure hidden in the field—so valuable to the Father that He gave everything to purchase the whole world just to have you (Matthew 13:44). You are the joy that was set before Jesus, the reason He endured the cross and resisted every temptation of sin and shame (Hebrews 12:2). God has never been indifferent toward you. He is a Father at heart, and His desire has always been to bring you home—not as a servant trying to earn love, but as a child receiving it freely.
But here’s where it gets complex. Life doesn’t always look like love. We live in a broken world, and when rejection or abuse enters the picture, it’s easy to wonder, Where was God? Maybe you’ve even judged Him in your heart—seen Him as distant, cold, silent… maybe even cruel.
If you’ve ever thought, If God really loved me, He wouldn’t have let that happen, you’re not alone. But that view assumes God is micromanaging life’s pain, when in fact, He gave mankind dominion of the earth (Genesis 1:26–28). In love, He gave us free will—and that freedom has led to unspeakable pain at the hands of others. God does not control people, and He does not author evil. He doesn’t need the abuse, betrayal, or trauma in your story to teach you a lesson. His heart is always to heal, restore, and redeem. But He won’t force His love. He is a gentleman—but make no mistake, He absolutely wants you.
You were not created to be a servant groveling for scraps. You were created to be a son or daughter, fully restored and alive in love. Like the father in the story of the prodigal son, God doesn’t even let you finish your shame-filled speech. He covers you in robes of righteousness and calls you His own.
This book is a journey of the heart. It’s about trading rejection for belonging, shame for righteousness, confusion for clarity, and fear for love. It’s about planting God’s Word in your heart, letting it reveal what you truly believe, and allowing the Holy Spirit to guide you in putting off lies and putting on truth. It’s about intimacy with a God who is not like the ones who hurt you. A God who proved His love through the cross.
This book will give you tools, exercises, and daily rhythms to help you renew your mind and heart, don’t become dogmatic. These tools are here to serve your healing, not control your process. If one practice or exercise resonates deeply with you, lean into it. If another feels heavy or unhelpful in a certain season, let it go without guilt. The Holy Spirit is your guide. Grace will lead you.
You don’t have to stay stuck. You don’t have to earn healing. You only need to say “yes” to the truth.
You are chosen. You are not alone. And your healing begins now.
